Each day this site will have a new name of God for you to think about. You can do any of the following:
- View it here
- Subscribe to the RSS feed to get it sent directly to you daily
- Get on the daily email list, to receive it directly into your email. To receive the email, sign up in the box on the right side of this page.
You can take as much time or as little as you want with each name. I’d encourage you to take the time to look up the verses in the Bible. Then meditate on the name throughout the day.
Here are some ways you can use this site:
1. By yourself:
- think about what the name means
- meditate on what it means to you
- discover how you can apply that name to your life
- ask the Lord to show you what his name means for you today
- use that name in prayer
2. with friends or family: Direct them to this site so they are getting the same names as you are. Then talk about what God shows each of you.
3. in a Bible study group:
- Each person will meditate on each name (they should get the daily email)
- Use the bullets in #1 above
- Talk about each name
- Look up the Scriptures to see the context
- Discover other names of God together
- Share what the Lord is showing each person. You may be very surprised. It’s amazing how God speaks to us right where we’re at now. At different times of life, He’ll reveal different things through th exact same Scriptures. Heb 4:12-13 says the Word is alive and active. That is so true.
4. in a Sunday School class: Use the same steps as #3.
If you’d like more help on how to use this site in a Bible study or Sunday School class, feel free to ask. I’d love to help you.
I want to challenge you to start your own treasure hunt to get to know God. Ask God to reveal His other names and qualities. Start your own list. My list already has over 1000 of God’s names, that I meditate on everyday (obviously not all of them, I just ask the Lord to show me which He wants me to meditate on that day.) The amazing thing is that most days, the Lord shows me one or more new names to add to the list.
As you think about God’s name each day, don’t do it as an intellectual exercise. Ask the Lord to help you get to know Him better as you focus on Him. If you ask sincerely, He will be faithful and will show you more of Himself.
When I was 13, I started my treasure hunt to know God, by reading, studying and meditating on the Word. Even though I have spent the last forty years (oh my, I’m dating myself!!) studying the Word and getting to know God, I’m amazed at how He keeps showing me more of Himself.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them.
Blessings on you in your search to know God more intimately,
Gaylyn

Hi Gaylyn:
A very precious “name” that means a lot to me at this season in my life is, Psalm 23:3 He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. The Restorer–isn’t that an encouragaing name? I just love it and have been able to share it with others who have been in places that they need to see that their is HOPE and His name is Jesus. Love, Sherri
