God’s Name of the Day:  Almighty

Job 33:4, The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Psalm 91:1, He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

This is from the Hebrew word, “Shaddai” meaning All-sufficient or Almighty.*

Some things you can do today with God’s name:

  • Meditate on God’s name, Almighty.  What does it mean?
  • How is God all sufficient for you?
  • Read 2 Corinthians 12:9 about God’s sufficiency, below. Consider how this verse can help you today.

2 Corinthians 12:9, But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

2 Corinthians 12:9 is a verse that I often go back to. I have seen over and over how God’s grace really is more than enough for my weaknesses. I love my weaknesses now, because I know that I can’t accomplish anything on my own. That’s a great place to be. I know I have to rely on God and His strength. When I am strong in certain areas, I don’t always feel like I need to rely on God.

*Note: I am not a Hebrew or Greek scholar. I only include information about the original language to add to your understanding. I use a transliteration of the word (note: there could be other ways that the word is spelled).
